CROSSFIRE SINGLES MINISTRY

Announcements

CROSSFIRE STAFF HIRED  - June 13, 2008
For the past year, since June 2007, CROSSFIRE has operated without a staff. Faithful board members and other volunteers have continued to make sure that events have been hosted, newsletters written and printed, small groups facilitated, and new people welcomed. Over 150 new people have been added to the mailing list and 775 people have attended events during 2008.
The ministry is growing - and we give God the glory!  Because of that growth and to ensure that we continue to fulfill the mission of CROSSFIRE, we are excited to tell you that two board members have stepped up and been approved by the Board to fill part-time paid staff positions, beginning June 13.  We believe this is another great step forward for CROSSFIRE as
God continues to bless this ministry!

Rev. Dave Dormer is now the Acting Ministry Director.  Dave formerly worked as the Assistant Director of Crossfire (1998-2001) and is now a board member and leader in the ministry and he is an ordained minister.  He is excited to have the opportunity to work at CROSSFIRE again and to bring his expertise and past experience to the ministry.
Patti Gilbert is now the Administrative Assistant.  Patti is a board member since 2007 and leader in the ministry and she has over 20 years experience as an Administrative Assistant.   She was first involved with CROSSFIRE over 25 years ago and led many of our small groups, facilitated DivorceCare for 3 years and served on the board during 1999-2001.
Office hours will be Fridays from 8:00am – 4:30pm during the summer months. You are welcome to stop by, to call the office (717-545-0005) or email Dave or Patti. You will see them at many events!

With great sadness I'm sorry to inform everyone that Bill Apgar passed away on Thursday June 12th. Bill was a great friend, supporter and leader in CROSSFIRE for many years.  His courageous battle for the past year was an inspiration to us.  Our prayers go out to all his friends and family members.            Niles Miller, Chairman of CROSSFIRE Board

Tribute to Bill Apgar:
Bill was very active in Crossfire.   He volunteered to take supplies to many events, sat at the welcoming table and made everyone feel welcome.  He had an excellent memory for names and would know a lot about you after he met you the first time.  Bill volunteered in the office many days, answering the phones, doing what had to be done.  He especially enjoyed helping to mail the newsletter.  Bill also liked to use his special bar-b-que utensils to cook at picnics.  You could count on him to do this.  Bill helped form a workgroup to clean a section of the highway, so CROSSFIRE had the section from the old office to the end of Lisburn Road.  Bill was a special person whose heart was as big as he was.  He loved to be around people.  He had a dry sense of humor and made me laugh many times.  I will miss him, as will many others.  He is home now and, knowing Bill,  I’m sure he is going around heaven to meet all who are there.
